Young people at risk find a new direction
The challenge
A community-based NGO working with young people at risk had the commitment and community trust to do more, but lacked wanted to innovate
and provide a progam that met young people where they were at.
Existing programs were on funding cycles, demand was on the rise, and the organisation needed a clear path to reach more young people without breaking its team.
What we did
Umagine worked alongside the NGO’s leadership to:
- set a clear strategy for consolidation and growth, grounded in supporting young people at risk;
- design and implement structures that enabled more robust program design, and more consistent service delivery;
- adopted a multi-strem funding model including social enterprise, grant funding, and philanthropic funding to strngthen the program funding base and give it sustainability;
- innovate, stand up new programs and services, and extend the reach of existing ones.
The outcome
- Over $1.5 million in new funding secured for programs for young people at risk.
- New programs delivered, giving more young people access to support when they need it.
- New contracts secured, adding to the organisation’s long-term sustainability.
- Stronger operations, with new structures in place for improved service delivery.
